Job Description

The Director of Nursing - RN - Long Term Care oversees the nursing program at a long-term care facility, ensuring high standards of resident care and compliance with regulations. This role involves managing nursing staff, developing clinical programs, and facilitating effective communication within the healthcare system.

This position requires a strong leader who can optimize geriatric care and improve the quality and efficiency of service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the organization's nursing personnel and will advise medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the nursing program at a long-term care facility
  • Ensure high standards of resident care and compliance with regulations
  • Manage nursing staff and develop clinical programs
  • Facilitate effective communication within the healthcare system
  • Optimize geriatric care and improve the quality and efficiency of service
  • Advise medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred but not required

Five years nursing experience required

Housing with Services, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and/or Assisted Living experience also helpful

Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care

Working knowledge of administrative and management techniques

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state

Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
