Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, the Substation Electrician B will carry out tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and inspection of substations and associated equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Executing work on the overhaul, calibration, and testing of both new and existing equipment;
- Gaining proficiency in wiring checks, operational substation switching, and testing of various relays and controls;
- Interpreting construction drawings and schematics to perform assigned tasks;
- Documenting work performed, challenges faced, and solutions implemented in a clear and organized manner;
- Adhering to safety protocols while cleaning up spills and managing equipment damage;
- Providing assistance in customer substations for equipment repairs and replacements;
- Assisting in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and components;
- Participating in daily briefings to ensure safe work practices;
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area;
- Collaborating with other teams to enhance operational efficiency;
- Engaging in tasks related to the installation and inspection of substation systems;
- Performing maintenance on various electrical equipment and structures;
- Conducting field tests using specialized equipment;
- Engaging in excavation and construction tasks as needed;
- Operating aerial lift equipment safely;
- Conducting routine checks and maintenance on batteries and other equipment;
- Completing tasks assigned to lower classifications as necessary.
Candidates must meet the general qualifications set by the company, including:
- Completion of Job Skill Demo requirements for Substation Electrician C;
- Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and customers;
- A minimum of one year of experience as Substation Electrician C or equivalent;
- Availability for planned overtime and call-outs;
- Completion of required training courses;
- Possession of a valid CDL Class A and compliance with driving requirements;
- Demonstrated aptitude for assigned duties;
- High school diploma or GED.
