We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Support Specialist to join our team at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR. As a Diagnostic Imaging Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting and directing patients while retrieving, organizing, and inputting digital images and/or exam information into our Electronic Medical Records System (EMS).
Key Responsibilities- Understand and utilize all aspects of our Electronic Medical Record System, DI Tracker, and the scheduling system.
- Verify patient's full legal name, spelling, and date of birth and accurately input all required information into the Electronic Medical Records System.
- Obtain needed information from numerous sources, including medical floors, referring physician offices, EMS, scheduling systems, and PACS.
- Answer phones, take messages, and route calls appropriately.
- Courteously and professionally respond to multiple phone calls and requests that often occur simultaneously.
- Collect accurate information regarding imaging procedure scheduled, physician or patient special requirements, and patient demographics to avoid duplicate errors and/or refer calls to the appropriate person/department.
- Communicate changes in imaging schedules to appropriate departments, such as SSU or other enterprise scheduling departments, CVL, Surgery, Lab, and Pathology.
- Able to work through problematic situations and personal conflicts that may arise during the workday in a positive and productive manner.
- Associate's Degree in the medical field or one (1) year medical and/or clerical experience or successful completion of a Providence Internship.
- Basic medical terminology course or completed within six (6) months of hire.
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (AHA-BLS) certification and other competencies or completed within one (1) month of hire.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and other office equipment, such as fax and copy machines.
- Proficiency in data processing and Microsoft Office software.
