Urban Land Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Surveyor to join our team at the City of Toledo. As a Chief Surveyor, you will be responsible for planning, evaluating, conducting, and/or directing surveying activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surveying principles, practices, and terminology, as well as experience with instrument and equipment used in survey work. You will also have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

• Manages land survey projects in areas such as boundary, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, transportation/right-of-way, topographic, utility, and construction staking.
• Gives direction to survey crews and technicians in obtaining alignment, topographic, cross-sectional, horizontal, and vertical information necessary for engineering design and construction of roadway, utility, and bridge projects.
• Reviews work of surveying staff and outside consultants.
• Provides guidance and direction to upper management within areas of surveying and land description.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering with 24 quarter hours or equivalent semester hours of approved surveying courses.
• At least 4 years of surveying experience with a Professional Surveyor License.
• Licensed Professional Surveyor in the State of Ohio or another state.
