Control Systems Engineer

Position Overview:

The role involves the design, assembly, programming, and testing of control systems through the wiring, layout, and assembly of control panels, control boards, and various electromechanical components.

The engineer will collaborate with a diverse team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Programmers, and Technicians.

This position requires leadership skills to guide projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams, ensuring that requirements are established, documented, and successfully transitioned to internal stakeholders.

Troubleshooting both hardware and software components will be integral to the role. This hands-on position will require a balance of design, assembly, and operational tasks. The systems developed will support Moxtek Production, necessitating on-site work.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and create schematics and electrical wiring diagrams for industrial control systems.
Construct and assemble industrial control panels, including mounting hardware, wiring, and labeling.
Program PLCs utilized in automated testing and manufacturing processes.
Interpret specification documents for electrical components and mechanical layout drawings.
Troubleshoot, debug, and test industrial control panels, whether designed independently or by others.

Document the completion of various assembly processes for future reference and guidance.

Utilize basic electrical and mechanical tools (grinders, drills, saws, soldering irons, microscopes, files, multi-meters, etc.). Generate reports and documentation as necessary for drawings, bills of materials, and manuals.

Work with custom PCBs, assembling and testing as required.
Perform basic soldering of wires and connectors, with board-level soldering techniques such as through-hole and surface mount being taught as needed.

Leadership Duties:
No direct reports.
Project leadership responsibilities as assigned within the equipment development team.

Qualifications:
A four-year degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering is required. Relevant on-the-job or personal project experience in similar tasks is essential.

Preferred Skills:

To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following competencies:

Proficiency in 3D modeling software, creating part models and complex assemblies, preferably with Solidworks 2021 or newer.
Experience in designing schematics using Solidworks Electrical.
Familiarity with managing source code in repositories, preferably Subversion.
Experience with Beckhoff PLCs.
Proficiency in programming PLCs using Structured Text.

Experience with 6 Axis Robots (Examples:
Epson, Mecademic, etc.) and familiarity with COGNEX Vision Systems or equivalent.
