Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Thermal Hardware Project Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will contribute to the development of sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

As a Thermal Hardware Project Engineer III, you will be responsible for defining and developing spacecraft thermal control systems. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.

Your primary focus will be on developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon. You will partner with the Lunar Thermal Hardware engineers to deliver active or passive thermal hardware components, assemblies, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope and schedule to achieve overall program goals and component requirements
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, manage changes, and resolve unexpected problems in support of component or subsystem builds, subsequent integration into test facilities and vehicles, and test activities
  • Work at the intersection of program management, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality organizations, improving team effectiveness and coordination

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or similar engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant Engineering experience
  • Solid understanding of thermal and fluid fundamentals
  • Familiarity of pumped fluid loop hardware such as pumps, cold plates, radiators, valves, heat exchangers, etc. OR passive thermal hardware such as MLI, TPS, heaters, etc.
  • Experience serving as a Project Engineer or Project Manager
  • Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results
  • Working knowledge of configuration management principles and practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
