Role Overview

  • Equipment Decontamination: Responsible for cleaning medical equipment, including transducers and TEE probes, while adhering to strict infection control standards.
  • Emergency Response: Actively participate in emergency situations by responding promptly according to departmental protocols.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning of equipment by troubleshooting issues and notifying clinical engineering when necessary. Perform minor calibrations as required.
  • Performance Improvement: Engage in continuous performance improvement initiatives, evaluating personal and peer work in a constructive manner.
  • Patient Care: Conduct transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, as well as stress echocardiograms, ensuring all necessary views are captured for accurate diagnostics.
  • Patient Records: Prepare preliminary reports with images and data in the designated reporting systems prior to physician review.
  • Patient Safety: Maintain patient safety by inspecting equipment and ensuring proper patient positioning during tests.
  • Data Entry: Accurately record all required measurements in accordance with established protocols.
  • Stress Echocardiograms: Efficiently obtain all necessary views during stress echocardiograms, including post-exercise images within a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Associate's Degree
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED
  • Preferred: Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited echocardiography program with a minimum of 800 clinical hours
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience as an echo sonographer
  • Required: Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMEDSON) or Registry for Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
