- Handle all medical emergencies that arise during clinic hours, providing prompt and professional care.
- Prescribe medication as needed, taking into account the patient's medical history and current condition.
- Administer local anesthesia and conscious sedation when appropriate, ensuring the patient's comfort and safety.
- Answer questions from students and patients, providing clear and concise information.
- Provide advice and guidance to dental hygiene faculty and staff on dental matters, promoting a culture of excellence.
- Identify treatments for patients with medical conditions, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Identify pathologies and make appropriate referrals, both medical and dental.
- Refer patients for follow-up treatment, ensuring continuity of care.
- Perform exams and dental diagnoses of soft and hard tissues, providing accurate and comprehensive assessments.
- Prescribe pit and fissure sealants as needed, promoting preventive care.
- Identify and evaluate any lesions, anomalies, or deviations from the normal, taking prompt action if necessary.
- Review radiographs and make subsequent diagnoses based on the review, ensuring accurate and timely care.
- Review health histories of patients and make referrals to a physician as necessary, prioritizing their health and well-being.
- Evaluate students as they provide patient care, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Provide consulting services to patients, suggesting and reviewing treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Report to the program director for programmatic and administrative matters, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a dentist, with a strong track record of clinical excellence.
- Appropriate state license and a moderate sedation certificate, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience in the education industry is preferred, but not required.
