PACU Nurse Job Description

The Surgical Care Specialist at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center provides exceptional care to patients immediately postoperatively, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. This role involves utilizing therapeutic communication, maintaining confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI), and coordinating patient participation to foster the hospital's mission and vision.

This position requires advanced knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, and treatment of patients across various age groups. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking skills, perform technical tasks, and follow established procedures to provide high-quality patient care.

  • This includes assessing nursing problems and identifying individual patient needs, as well as documenting all patient care in accordance with established standards.
  • The Surgical Care Specialist must maintain a safe environment, manage patient assessments, and prioritize confidentiality of PHI.

Required Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months of employment start date
  • Current Basic Life Support certification upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months of employment start date
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current TN RN licensure or current compact state licensure
  • 1 year of ICU or PACU experience required
