Overview:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in executing a range of intricate tasks involving fluoroscopy, computed tomography, laser, and ultrasonography equipment during vascular and neuroradiology angiographic and interventional procedures.
This position is essential in developing and implementing processes to ensure the seamless and efficient flow of patients within the Interventional labs.
Key Responsibilities:- Fulfill the expectations of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Assist in providing diagnostic imaging for invasive procedures, including arteriography, catheter insertions, stenting, dialysis access, thrombolytic interventions, and angioplasty.
- Operate and manage Special Procedures equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
- Achieve optimal quality and precision in imaging.
- Support the Radiologist/Interventional Radiologist as a scrub assistant during complex interventional procedures.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and prior imaging are prepared for the Interventional Radiologist.
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure accurate documentation of charges and codes for each procedure.
- Utilize various fixed and portable radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment across the hospital, including surgical suites and intensive care units.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing assigned patient care responsibilities, tailored to meet the specific age and developmental needs of patients.
- Registered vascular interventional technologists are expected to be available for on-call hours.
- Carry out additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent accepted qualification is required. A minimum of 12 months of training or experience in special procedures is preferred. Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology is mandatory. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Post-Primary Pathway in Vascular Interventional Radiography certification must be obtained within two years. State licensure is required, along with current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred.
