Creative Learning Center is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in a highly individualized behavioral and educational setting.
Responsibilities- Direct Instructional Support: Provide one-on-one or group instruction to students, monitoring their ability to follow directions and maintain positive behavior.
- Treatment Plan Implementation: Implement treatment plans using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to help students reach their goals and objectives.
- Data Collection: Collect data on student progress, as directed by licensed staff, to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
- Record Keeping: Assist staff in maintaining accurate records of student progress, including charts and other relevant documentation.
- Academic Reinforcement: Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff, providing students with opportunities to practice and reinforce new skills.
- Community Support: Assist students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities, under the direction of licensed staff.
- De-Escalation and Restraint: Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related duties as assigned and required by building administration and licensed staff.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience working with children in a special needs education setting preferred but not required.
- Collaboration and Feedback: Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
- Professionalism: Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize student behaviors or mannerisms.
- Crisis Management: Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions, including therapeutic holds.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures for extended periods, including lifting and moving up to 100 pounds.
