A career opportunity exists for a seasoned Conventions and Events Specialist to join the Abbott Laboratories team in the United States. This role will focus on planning and executing various scale healthcare conventions, tradeshows, and meetings across the country.

In collaboration with Product Marketing, Clinical Marketing, Creative, and Marcom teams, you will ensure business objectives and priorities are met. Your expertise in vendor management will be invaluable in designing exhibit booths, procuring housing, acquiring meeting spaces, and managing attendee registration.

You will also develop communications to the field, management, and attendees to maintain company-wide awareness of events. Additionally, you will oversee the planning and supervision of outside contractors, including installation and dismantle labor, trucking, and arranging services needed on-site.

As a liaison with healthcare societies, hotels, and event partners, you will foster strategic alliances and corporate relationships while ensuring they are maintained in a professional manner. Post-event, you will process invoices, chargebacks, lead generation, and complete event reports.

This position requires strong project management skills, a customer-service focused mentality, and experience working with vendors and budgets. You must be able to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or English, and 1-3 years of experience in conventions and event planning, preferably in the healthcare industry.

The salary range for this position is $57,300 - $114,700, with approximately 30% travel required. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
