POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Cashier is responsible for handling transactions, which includes processing cash payments, reconciling cash drawers, providing change, counting cash receipts, and completing financial reports. Additional duties may involve general food service tasks. The role also requires maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in both service and dining areas. Responsibilities may vary based on specific business needs and client requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Confirm cash amounts at the start of each shift.

• Operate the cash register, accepting payments from customers for goods or services and accurately recording transactions.

• Calculate bills, itemized lists, and tickets using a cash register or adding machine, provide change, cash checks, and issue receipts to customers.

• Manage and maintain cash levels in the drawer effectively.

• Prepare transaction reports, review totals on cash register tape, and verify against cash on hand.

• Process credit card transactions and possess knowledge of item values and features for which payments are received.

• Issue cash refunds or credit notes for returned items, and operate ticket-dispensing machines as necessary.

• Complete customer purchases by scanning items or entering prices into the register promptly and accurately.

• Perform additional tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.

• Ensure all items are recorded in cash registers and displayed on menu boards.

• Ensure the facility opens 15 minutes prior to meal service.

• Adhere to good sanitation practices.

• Secure the facility at the end of meal service.

• Participate in energy conservation and recycling initiatives.

• Follow all Food Handlers Safety Components.

• Attend training on allergies and foodborne illnesses.

• Comply with all HACCP policies and procedures.

• Report any accidents or injuries promptly.

• Adhere to all company safety and risk management policies.

• Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions.

• Attend designated training programs (both in-person and virtual).

• Fulfill any other responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager/Supervisor.

• Maintain any required security clearances and comply with the Drug-Free Workplace policy.

• Follow Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operating procedures.

• Adhere to the Property Control Plan for managing Government Furnished Property (GFP).

• Comply with safety and health programs in accordance with applicable regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    • Problem-solving skills under pressure.

    • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

    • Previous cashier experience is required.

    • Must obtain ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment.

    • Flexibility in work schedule is essential.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• One year of experience with the ALOHA point of sale system is preferred.
Additional Qualifications:

• Strong organizational skills and ability to delegate tasks effectively.

• Goal-oriented with a focus on achieving targets.

• Effective time management skills and ability to handle conflicts.
