Job Opportunity

Phalen Leadership Academies is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Discovery Creative Pathways (DCP) Harper Woods. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the individualized attention and accommodations they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Conduct assessments and observations to identify areas where students may require extra or modified educational services
  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to set learning goals and adapt modifications as necessary
  • Teach lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities for small groups and individual students, while meeting the requirements of IEPs and 504 plans
  • Collaborate with classroom and homeroom teachers to ensure each student's needs are met and plans are followed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with appropriate endorsements
  • Valid teaching license with required SPED endorsements
  • High proficiency in grade-level standards, benchmarks, and curriculum
  • Experience informing parents about student progress and providing feedback
