We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Therapist IV to join our team at Inova Schar Cancer in Fairfax. As a key member of our Life with Cancer program, you will provide direct clinical therapeutic services to oncology patients, serve as a Team Lead to the Behavioral Health Therapist team, and provide Clinical Supervision of BHT1s.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced clinical expertise in therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming, and behavioral interventions to assist patients and caregivers in achieving progress towards their goals and objectives related to oncology-focused clinical issues.
- Assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders through bio/psycho/social department-specific and evidence-based assessments, identifying patient and family goals and needs.
- Practice within the Code of Ethics of the credentialing discipline, participate in staff meetings and professional committees as assigned, and engage in research and contribute to the specialty field of program/department/unit through the development/participation of research protocols, abstract writing, and publications when identified and appropriate.
- Serve as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure and supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships.
- Five (5) years' experience in Behavioral Health, with oncology experience preferred.
- Experience in mental health/substance use disorders, psychoeducational programming, including brief, targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, integrative therapies).
- Demonstrated success as a clinical supervisor.
- Master's Degree - Behavioral Science and Health, or Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health-related field.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association within 3 months of hire, Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire, Approved Clinical Supervisor within 3 months of hire, and Training in CBT and one or more of ADEC, EBSR, ACT, CBT-I, Sexual Health.
- Licensure: Licensed Mental Health Specialist - Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), PhD or PsychD Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP). Certification in Oncology Social Work OSW-C must be obtained within 3 months of start date.
