Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Specialist to join our team at Monmouth County (NJ). As a key member of our Hazmat Response Team, you will be responsible for responding to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials, protecting public health, safety, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond as a member of the hazmat team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials.
  • Use chemical protective equipment Level D through Level A to protect yourself and others from hazardous materials.
  • Identify, classify, and verify known and unknown hazardous materials using field monitoring equipment.
  • Attend training sessions associated with assigned duties to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and protocols.
  • Issue complete and comprehensive incident reports to document responses and ensure accountability.

Requirements:

  • Meet the minimum requirements listed on the NJCSC Job Description.
  • Be available for after-hours on-call duty.
  • Hold a valid NJ Driver's License.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position that requires working on-site at Monmouth County (NJ) facilities. The successful candidate must be able to wear Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
