Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering proficient and effective Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance assistance to the operations of the Plant and Facility. This position emphasizes safety while ensuring that all machinery is maintained, adjusted, and repaired in accordance with industry standards and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment, including assembly lines, conveyors, and mixing machinery.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) in an industrial setting.
  • Diagnose issues, replace and repair components, and conduct tests to ensure optimal performance of high-speed production machinery.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Maintain equipment following technical diagrams and manufacturer specifications, while executing preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Generate work orders and manage parts requisitions.
  • Utilize machine shop tools and equipment as necessary for repairs or modifications.
  • Document completed work orders and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Operate mechanical and pneumatic systems, including cylinders and glue machines.
  • Handle equipment such as forklifts and scissors lifts safely.
  • Stay updated on GMP, safety protocols, and technical knowledge through ongoing training.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the food manufacturing sector.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a skilled maintenance technician.
  • Experience with PLC systems is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to interpret manufacturing specifications and schematics.
  • Familiarity with food-grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fabrication methods.
  • Electrical knowledge and experience with packaging machinery are beneficial.
  • Possess a complete set of hand and power tools necessary for industrial maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently.
  • Thorough knowledge of tools required for industrial maintenance, including broaching, milling, and lathe operations.
  • Effective communication skills, particularly regarding safety issues and protocols.
  • Basic understanding of control power and main power systems.
  • Ability to identify and utilize various lubricants appropriately.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and acetylene welding.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and water systems.
  • Proficient in soldering techniques and reading electrical schematics.
  • Ability to identify motor frames, power loads, and amp draws accurately.
  • Must possess personal electrical tools, including voltmeters and amp meters.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, typically gained through a minimum of five years in related roles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret quality documents, safety regulations, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
