Pharmacy Technician Sr Job Description

US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician Sr to join our team.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician Sr will be responsible for preparing medication orders, verifying patient information, and maintaining accurate records. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication preparation and inventory control.
  • Count controlled drugs weekly and maintain records.
  • Maintain current drug information and MSDS sheets.
  • Properly dispose of all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.
  • Clean the hood daily as stated in policy and procedures.
  • Log and date all drugs that are being used.
  • Check drugs monthly for outdates.
  • Keep accurate temperature logs.
  • Keep accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
  • Maintain proper control documentation of medications, including lot numbers and all other quality assurance activities.
  • Complete inventory control of medications.
  • Order supplies and medications.
  • Receive and shelf medications.
  • Ensure that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply in all departments.
  • Prepare labels.
  • File and prepare billing.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry level to three years experience in a pharmacy.
  • Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
  • I.V. certification preferred.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
  • Minimum five to seven years of experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
  • Oncology background preferred or extensive I.V. preparation experience.
  • Completion of an ASCP accredited program or community college-based program recommended.
