Production Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our team at Lactalis Heritage Dairy. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for overseeing the production process and ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate the production process to meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead and motivate a team of production employees to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Sales, Marketing, and R&D, to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and USDA.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and equipment.
  • Manage and control inventory levels to minimize waste and optimize production.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that products meet our high standards.
  • Participate in and may assume responsibility for product grading.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Food Science, Dairy Science, or Chemistry.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing production, with a focus on leadership and team management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements within the dairy industry.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Word and manufacturing operating systems such as SAP.
  • Effective and proficient communicator, written and verbal.
  • Business acumen, including problem-solving and analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage day-to-day operations and projects in a changing, complex, time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skill with proven attention to detail.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to select, lead, coach, influence, motivate, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees.
