Heavy Duty Diesel Technician

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Technician to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment to ensure safe operation according to compliance standards.
About the RoleThis role includes performing overhauls on engines and transmissions, conducting preventative maintenance, and inspecting critical vehicle systems. You will also be required to train other mechanics and maintain a commitment to safety and thorough documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment
- Perform overhauls on engines and transmissions
- Conduct preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/repairs of fleet diesel equipment
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition
- Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as "roadworthy"
- Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system
- Install, replace, and repair onboard computers
- Train/provide guidance to other Mechanics
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- 5-7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience, including PMs, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in refrigeration &/or overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions

CompensationThe estimated salary range for this position is $29.36 per hour to start, based on industry standards and comparable roles in the area. This compensation package also includes a comprehensive benefits program, which includes health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
