Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation, verification, and oversight of monthly journal entries
  • Generation of monthly financial statements
  • Conducting monthly account analyses to guarantee accurate representation of financial statements for all balance sheet accounts, including sub-ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets
  • Analysis of monthly trends for both Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
  • Reconciliation of the general ledger
  • Monthly preparation of bank and cash reconciliations
  • Weekly freight data uploads into SAP
  • Support for banking and cash management activities
  • Monitoring prepaid expenses and ensuring journal entries are made in the correct accounting period for all entities
  • Engagement in SAP/HFM and Hyperion projects, including testing and implementation
  • Forecasting and planning for balance sheets in undistributed divisions
  • Preparation of annual balance sheet budgets for all non-working capital accounts
  • Development of annual schedules for Business Interruption Insurance
  • Input of all tax-related information for planning and forecasting
  • Year-end preparation of 10-K schedules
  • Preparation of federal and state tax packages for quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Posting intercompany invoices to balance divisions
  • Intercompany reconciliations and month-end balancing
  • Assistance with various projects and additional responsibilities as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Propose and implement enhancements to accounting procedures to boost efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify critical close information to be communicated to the Finance department each month.
  • Initiate and execute process improvements in daily operations.
  • Provide analytical support and guidance to department leaders during each monthly close.
  • Make informed decisions regarding journal entries and standard monthly closing processes.
The responsibilities outlined above are executed in accordance with US GAAP, adhering to corporate policies, internal controls, and RPM reporting standards. This role also involves maintaining accounting records in compliance with governmental and RPM regulations.
