Job Summary

Seattle City Light is seeking a Strategic Advisor II to ensure the utility's programs, projects, and initiatives are aligned with electrification strategic objectives, with an emphasis on building electrification, clean energy workforce development, and grid readiness policy and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Align utility programs and initiatives to strategic objectives identified in the utility's Building Electrification Strategy and the Transportation Electrification Strategic Investment Plan.
  2. Coordinate closely with portfolio managers across the utility to ensure strategies are aligned and moving towards common objectives.
  3. Set and manage operational targets, support program development, and integrate stakeholder feedback on an ongoing basis to identify and implement solutions that meet customer, stakeholder, and business needs.
  4. Seek out, engage, and collaborate with City Light and City departments to support goal development, execution, and change management.
  5. Develop and track appropriate metrics to assist in evaluating program effectiveness and success.
  6. Build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with community-level organizations, stakeholders, and other agencies.
  7. Oversee and coordinate external funding deployment, including Inflation Reduction Act rebates.
  8. Advise and make recommendations to City Light and City executives as needed.
  9. Manage regulatory and policy issues, including reporting requirements.
  10. Stay abreast of market and technology developments relevant to electrification.
  11. Develop and deliver executive presentations and communicate technical and policy information in a manner accessible for a variety of audiences.
  12. Support strategic and business planning activities related to the Lighting Design Lab's transition to electrification technologies and workforce development.
Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration, public administration, political science or a related field or a combination of education and/or experience with building electrification, distributed energy resource and/or decarbonization technology programs that provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.

Minimum of 5 years' of progressively responsible experience providing strategic and operational support in policy, innovation, emerging technologies, electrification, distributed energy resource, and/or decarbonization technology or related field.
