Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert interpretation of physician orders to ensure accurate medication prescriptions.
- Dispense pharmaceuticals with meticulous attention to detail, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Monitor patient medication therapies, identifying potential interactions or adverse reactions and recommending appropriate adjustments to prescribing physicians.
- Maintain and review patient profiles, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of medication information.
- Collaborate effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Manage inventory levels of approved medications, ensuring adequate supplies for routine, emergency, and floor stock situations.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required. Continuous education is mandatory to maintain licensure.
Certification/Licenses: Active licensure by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy is essential. Ongoing professional development and certifications are encouraged.
Skills:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise interactions with healthcare professionals.
- Advanced mathematical abilities to accurately calculate dosages and medication requirements.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and electronic health records.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaborative relationships within the healthcare team.
Experience: One year of experience as a licensed pharmacist is preferred, but not required.
