Position Summary:
A Junior Research Scientist plays a crucial role in developing and clarifying scientific objectives, as well as designing and executing experiments. This position is comparable to the Research Assistant Professor role at various academic institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Principal Investigator (PI) to design targeted, hypothesis-driven research initiatives.
- Seizes opportunities to pursue local or national funding to support relevant research endeavors.
- Conducts experimental work and performs data analysis.
- Maintains a robust record of scientific publications and presentations, including at least one high-impact publication alongside multiple others.
- Provides guidance and oversight to research technologists and pre- and postdoctoral trainees.
- Actively engages with the scientific community within the Blood Research Institute.
- Undertakes additional duties as assigned that fall within the scope of this job classification.
- Adheres to all applicable regulatory and compliance standards.
- Follows all standard operating procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
Education:
- PhD, MD, or an equivalent degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of postdoctoral experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven ability to independently apply scientific theory to the design and execution of research experiments.
- Capability to interpret and articulate the theoretical foundations of the conducted work.
- Ability to independently perform research procedures.
- Immediate proficiency in both basic and advanced testing and procedures relevant to the scientific field.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Capability to supervise, coordinate, and plan the work of team members involved in projects.
