Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Meat Department Clerk to join our team at Kroger. As a Meat Department Clerk, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and ensuring that our meat department meets the highest standards of quality and freshness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet customers and provide them with good quality food, wait on customers and counter promptly and cheerfully, and be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
  • Store Maintenance: Unload and store merchandise, prepare and display foods in accordance with company standards, recipes, and policies, and maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Quality Control: Monitor product quality; make sure it is always fresh and safe, and perform required temperature monitoring.
  • Housekeeping: Keep sales areas, backrooms, and coolers clean and well organized, and keep floors clean, safe, and free from clutter.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain proper signage, product rotation, freshness, quantity, quality, and proper space allocation for merchandise.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in food preparation and customer service preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, training materials, and bulletins, and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Qualities: Personal initiative and follow through to completion, and ability to work with various cleaning solutions, safely use sharp tools, and carefully operate all production equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in grocery retail and customer service.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety, and food handling.
