We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CDL Driver Lead to join our team at Casella Waste Systems. As a CDL Driver Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing a group of drivers to ensure that operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure routes are being serviced in a timely manner and report any concerns to management.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of re-routes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Educate and execute new drivers on pre and post-trip inspections and report any safety issues.
  • Perform all trainings and retraining of new drivers as well as yearly re-certifications of all existing drivers.
  • Train drivers to safely operate CDL trucks along designated routes and to the disposal site.
  • Complete all training documentation and required paperwork for daily operation.
  • Work with operations to schedule and complete all retrains with drivers within 72 hours.
  • Provide a distinguishably different level of service through courteous interactions with all customers and provide service in a timely manner.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
  • Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste continuously.
  • Clean area around accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicles to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize down time.
Career Path Definitions & Distinctions
  • Apprentice: Completes training for Helper safety, customer service training, and required training to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Class I Driver: Demonstrates the ability to complete assigned route sheet for 1 Line of Business and ability to complete tasks necessary for one of the following: Rear load, front load, side load, roll off trucks.
  • Class II Driver: Demonstrates the ability to complete assigned route sheet for 2 Lines of Business and ability to complete tasks necessary for two of the following: Rear load, front load, side load, roll off trucks.
  • Class III Driver: Demonstrates the ability to complete assigned route sheet for 3 Lines of Business and ability to complete tasks necessary for three of the following: Rear load, front load, side load, roll off trucks.
  • Lead Driver: Demonstrates the ability to develop driver training plans and coach employees to achieve successful outcomes.
Education, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid Class B CDL License with an air brake endorsement, be legally eligible to work in the United States, and have an OSHA 10 or 30 card. 1 year clean CDL Driving experience and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment is required.
