Cardiovascular Recovery Area Nurse

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to fill a CVRA - Cardiovascular Recovery Area position. This is an ongoing opportunity for an 8-hour per week commitment, with flexible scheduling to accommodate the needs of the team.
Responsibilities- Provide direct care, counseling, and education to patients in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
- Maintain and monitor emergency equipment as outlined in BWH Cardiac Rehabilitation policies.
- Perform physical examinations, functional assessments, and provide preventive health interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Review and assess appropriate lab and diagnostic tests.
- Consult with patient care team to ensure appropriate plan of care and follow-up.
- Document pertinent patient care findings, progress, and plans in the electronic medical record.
- Set priorities for appropriate and efficient management of patient care that reflects cost-effective management of time, available human resources, supplies, and equipment.
- Incorporate the concepts of health maintenance, prevention, and promotion into daily practice through patient education and counseling.
- Facilitate Cardiac Rehabilitation classes, including exercise, education, and stress reduction sessions.
- Monitor patients' clinical presentation before, during, and after the class, including telemetry, blood glucose testing, and management.
- Conduct clinical examinations of patients pre- and post-participation in CR sessions.
- Provide participant oversight by ensuring goals are both attainable and prescribing a plan to help patients meet those goals.
- Communicate effectively with supervising physicians as well as patients' own primary care providers and cardiologists.
- Provide appropriate care for patients who develop chest pain, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, hypotension, hypertension, and dysrhythmias consistent with BWH and AACVPR guidelines.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts.
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing required.
- Master's degree in nursing preferred.
- Current and extensive direct care experience with demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical cardiovascular nursing required.
- Recent Cardiac Rehab nursing experience preferred.
- Recent experience managing groups and providing formal (classroom) patient education preferred.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM, as directed by nursing leadership.
