Job Summary

Duininck Minnesota and South Dakota is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paving Crew Lead | Foreman to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the paving crew, ensuring top-quality workmanship, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate project needs and communicate effectively with crew members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and incident reporting procedures, escalating any issues to the Asphalt Operations Manager and Safety Manager as needed.
  • Direct and lead workers engaged in construction activities, promoting a culture of teamwork, communication, and commitment to excellence.
  • Review and verify employee time sheets for accuracy before submitting to payroll.
  • Analyze and resolve worker issues, collaborating with Human Resources to develop plans of action when necessary.
  • Communicate with maintenance staff regarding maintenance needs for major equipment on assigned jobs.
  • Interact with the public and customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Follow established daily Crew Lead procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in utility construction.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and manage employees.
  • Strong coordination, time management, active listening, and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve quickly and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse individuals and positions.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in heavy civil operations construction, with a preference for experience in asphalt/paving.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply information from blueprints, surveys, and job specifications.
  • Unwavering focus on safety.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Central and Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Dakotas.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Ability to walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch, and sit.
  • Work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Effectively handle lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly work extended hours, outdoors, and in a variety of weather conditions at project locations.
  • Travel is required.
