Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Distribution Engineer to join our team at APS (Arizona Public Service). As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for performing advanced engineering design, modifications, and technical assistance for protection and reliability of our distribution systems. This role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex engineering design, analysis, and troubleshooting for distribution circuits, including load flow, protection & short circuit analysis, and voltage studies.
  • Investigate customer complaints associated with power quality and reliability, providing timely and effective resolutions.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and other teams to ensure smooth project execution and effective use of resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory requirements, applying this expertise to drive innovation and improvement in our distribution systems.
Requirements
  • A four-year Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum two years of experience in engineering-related positions, preferably in the field of distribution engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with CYME distribution modeling tool, ADMS system, and other relevant software.
Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role, requiring approximately 40% on-site work at APS locations and 60% remote work from home office. Employees must reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
