Medical Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of expertise in medical care. As a Medical Specialist 1, you will be responsible for providing specialized medical care to patients, including diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:- Obtain, review, and update individual medical information, including medical histories, test results, diagnoses, and prescribed treatments.
- Conduct physical examinations, order and perform diagnostic tests, and determine and confirm diagnoses.
- Prescribe and administer treatments, medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care to prevent or treat illness, disease, or injury.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve treatment goals and objectives and ensure continuity of care.
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers on medical procedures, test results, diagnoses, and prescribed treatments.
- Refer patients to other healthcare providers based on diagnostic and treatment needs.
- Participate in discharge planning and work collaboratively with other providers and disciplines to facilitate medical follow-up after discharge.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation consistent with agency, state, and federal requirements.
- Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State.
- Successful completion of a residency training program in your specialty approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and disciplines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation.
This role is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and disciplines.
