Job Overview

Position Summary

The Laundry Production Specialist plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of our laundry facility. This position involves the manual handling of textiles, ensuring they are processed through various machines, including folding and ironing equipment. Teamwork is essential, as staff members may rotate between different machines and tasks throughout their shifts.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a collaborative team, the Laundry Production Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Transporting clean linens to designated workstations
  • Identifying linens by customer tags
  • Sorting and organizing mixed clean textiles
  • Operating machinery for folding and ironing linens
  • Hand-folding linens and mops as required
  • Loading linens onto automated conveyors
  • Hanging linens on metal hangers for cubicle curtains
  • Stacking linens as they exit folding or ironing machines when necessary
  • Conducting visual and manual inspections to ensure quality standards
  • Maintaining a tidy and organized workstation
  • Exhibiting courteous and respectful behavior in the workplace
  • Assisting with various tasks as directed by management
  • Participating in job rotation as needed

Additional Duties:

Occasionally, the Laundry Production Specialist may be tasked with handling linens that require special care, including:

  • Counting and stacking folded linens accurately
  • Assisting in inventory management for various accounts

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading, comprehending, and writing in English and/or Spanish
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a willingness to collaborate
  • Flexibility to work day or night shifts and rotate as needed
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening, as per applicable laws

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent reaching, twisting, and lifting required
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of laundry carts, potentially exceeding 250 pounds
  • Repetitive hand movements required for various tasks
  • Ability to maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment
  • Specific vision abilities necessary for the role, including close and distance vision
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately
  • Effective communication skills are essential
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as necessary
  • Ability to hear and be aware of surroundings for safety

Work Environment

The position is based in a production area of an industrial laundry facility, which may involve exposure to large machinery, variable temperatures, and noise levels.
