Radiologic Technologist Job Description

Job Summary:
Radiologic technologists play a crucial role in the healthcare industry, working closely with radiologists and other medical professionals to produce high-quality diagnostic images. As a radiologic technologist at Saint Joseph Hospital - IM, you will be responsible for performing radiographic procedures, transferring patients for examinations, and assisting with the x-ray examination process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform radiographic procedures to obtain desired results according to physician specifications.
  • Transfer patients for examinations and assist with the x-ray examination process.
  • Responsible for the appropriate operation of all X-ray imaging and related equipment.
  • Educate, position, immobilize, and perform X-ray procedures.
  • Coordinate X-ray examinations to ensure timeliness, quality, and continuity of patient care.
  • Ensure correct understanding and following of provider imaging orders.
  • Submit required images and related clinical information to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Evaluate image quality appropriately.
  • Maintain clear and responsive communication with patients, coworkers, radiologists, and leadership.
  • Utilize, charge, and maintain department supplies appropriately.
  • Practice sterile techniques and follow infection prevention policies.
  • Handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Perform X-ray procedures safely, including patient transfer.
  • Prepare and administer contrast according to radiologist protocol.
  • Follow radiation safety measures (ALARA) to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Supervise and evaluate student radiographers in the clinical setting.

Schedule Notes:

  • Week 1: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday-Friday
  • Week 2: Wednesday-Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT certified
  • BLS
  • American Heart Association
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a multifunctional team
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
  • Experience with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite
