Position Overview:

The maintenance mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of plant processing equipment through preventive maintenance and repair activities. This position involves working with various machinery, including conveyor systems, pumps, and gearboxes, while also engaging in fabrication, welding, and other essential maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-shift OSHA safety inspections to ensure compliance
  • Perform repairs and adjustments on machinery to maintain functionality
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment, including cranes and welding apparatus
  • Assist with electrical and pipe fitting tasks as needed
  • Participate in the installation and maintenance of equipment
  • Ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency
  • Execute preventive maintenance procedures
  • Support safety and housekeeping initiatives
  • Provide training and mentorship to fellow team members

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy-duty maintenance
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Familiarity with electrical and pneumatic systems
  • Experience in maintaining conveyor systems
  • Skilled in arc welding and oxy/fuel cutting techniques
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime
  • Capability to identify and procure basic parts
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb and work at elevated heights
  • Capacity to lift and carry moderate weights
  • Adaptability to diverse weather conditions
