Job Summary

Gateway Technical College is seeking a highly qualified Optometrist to join our faculty team as an Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Instructor. This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise and passion for optometry with students and contribute to the success of our college.

Responsibilities

As an Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching students in the Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Technical Diploma Program. Your duties will include:

Providing instruction and guidance to students in the clinical setting

Maintaining proficiency in equipment and procedures common to the clinical setting

Creating effective relationships with shared program partners and industry partners

Ensuring the safety of students in potentially hazardous work environments

Providing regular curriculum and course improvement

Participating in subject or program leadership teams

Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will need:

A Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution

Two years of recent occupational experience in an Optometric, Ophthalmic, or Optical setting

A proven record of clinical skills competence

Excellent classroom delivery skills and the ability to collaborate with other staff

A strong interest in contributing to the success of the college
