We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing care to patients with diverse psychiatric illnesses.
Key Responsibilities- Provide key assistance to patients who require special precautions
- Remain with assigned patients at all times during their shift, except for break and meal time
- Assist patients with patient hygiene, perinea care, and AOL activities
- Position patients to relieve pressure and preserve skin integrity
- Observe and report changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse
- Recognize emergent or potential emergent situations and respond appropriately
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- One (1) year of Nurse Aide/Assistant/CHHA/Emergency Medical Technician, or satisfactory completion of an Aide training program
- 3-5 years of related experience in a psychiatric or geriatric-psychiatric service setting required
- Preferably at least one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist and/or EKG technician with health care background
- Must successfully complete MMC clinical training orientation
- Annual BEST certification
