Job Summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a skilled Building Automation Systems Operator to join our team. As a Building Automation Systems Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the campus-wide Building Automation System (BAS) from a central control room. This is a swing shift position, eligible for $3,096 annual shift differential pay.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the campus Building Automation System (BAS) for proper operation of building mechanical systems and respond to alarm conditions.
  • Analyze computer-generated and phoned-in facility-related problems, prioritize, and coordinate proper responses.
  • Handle normal and emergency phone calls as the after-hours call center. Dispatch technicians as needed. On occasion, will need to be able to respond to crisis situations.
  • Provide timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise, and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.
  • Perform work independently from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established operating procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Diploma (High School) or GED.
  • Experience with HVAC equipment and operation.
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Record information and communicate effectively.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • More than three years of experience in the required qualifications.
  • Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience in a Call Center environment.
  • Experience with computerized service request systems.
