Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Travel

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team on a travel assignment in Carlsbad, NM. As a COTA, you will work closely with our occupational therapists to provide patient care and implement activities necessary to help individuals learn life-management skills within the limits of their mental and physical capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care as an Occupational Therapy Assistant to patients in assigned facilities.
  • Assist patients under the direction of an Occupational Therapist to maximize their potential in activities of daily living, including self-care, meal time skills, and manipulation skills.
  • Construct adaptive equipment and self-help devices as recommended by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist the Occupational Therapist to instruct and educate patients and families for home care and carry over.
  • Properly and accurately document and chart observations and other data related to the clinical condition of the patient.
  • Deliver age-appropriate care for the patient population.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge, and enhance professional excellence.
Requirements:
  • Must possess independent decision-making skills.
  • Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Ability to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees.
  • Meet all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
  • Physical and sensory requirements, including walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling, as well as the ability to hear and respond to pages, read and write, and communicate verbally and in writing.
Work Experience:

At least 2 years of experience as a COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) is required.
