Sanitation Supervisor

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leading food processing and distribution company with a strong commitment to quality and safety. We are seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Supervisor to join our team in Norwalk, Iowa.

The Sanitation Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the proper sanitation of our production equipment and facilities. This includes supervising sanitation employees, cleaning and inspecting equipment, and training employees on sanitation procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation principles and be able to lead a team to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Supervise sanitation employees and ensure they are following established sanitation procedures
• Clean and inspect equipment to ensure it is in good working condition
• Train employees on sanitation procedures and ensure they understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Monitor plant, equipment, and parts for cleanliness and proper sanitation
• Track trends to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to improve sanitation practices
• Communicate with management and other departments to ensure seamless operations
• Lead cross-functional sanitation teams and participate in audits and inspections
• Conduct safety and educational training for employees
• Inventory and order sanitation supplies
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a safe working environment

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of three years of experience in sanitation in the food industry
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations
• Ability to respond to questions from internal and external customers/vendors at all levels
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form
• Understanding and ability to write SSOPs
• Keen awareness and enforcement of safety procedures and precautions
• Knowledge of chemicals and chemical usage
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Working computer knowledge specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience working with USDA is a plus
• Knowledge of CIP preferred
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
