Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Summit Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of sterilization and instrument preparation in our central processing department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to sterilization process policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Disassemble and clean medical instruments according to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Inspect instruments for damage and defects, and lubricate as required.
  • Determine the suitability of each instrument for use.
  • Sort and arrange instruments into proper trays according to established policy and procedure.
  • Wrap trays and individual instruments according to established policy and procedure.
  • Accurately label each instrument with its name.
  • Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and other equipment for processing instruments.
  • Position instruments correctly in disinfection washers and sterilizers, and select the proper cycle.
  • Check indicators for proper functioning.
  • Complete all required documentation, including sterilizer logs, BI documents, and equipment cleaning logs.
  • Perform biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to established policy and procedures.
  • Clean sterilizers according to established policies and procedures.
  • Check for outdated instruments and package integrity of wrapped sterilized instruments, and replace as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Behave and dress in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the facility's Standards of Behavior.

The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.

The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
