About the Role

The Digital Software Developer at Safelite is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining digital experiences (websites and mobile apps) for clients and consumers. This role requires collaboration with business and IT teams to ensure timely task completion and prioritization of work based on roadmap and tactical needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Work primarily in C#,.NET, and JavaScript.

Technical Requirements

  • Read specifications and write code and unit tests using patterns and languages approved by Technical Lead and Architect; adhere to best practices and end-user requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, UX, analysts, QA, and other software engineers to make changes to an application for defect fixes, enhancements, and new features; demonstrate business knowledge by actively participating and providing relevant suggestions and insight.
  • Participate in the design process that generates application functional and technical specifications (JAD, Three Amigos).
  • Refactor code related to current work - optimization, restructuring, improved readability, reduced complexity, and improving unit tests.
  • Perform system analysis for current state application operation and upcoming application enhancements.
  • Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, estimation, and team meetings.
  • Document application design specifications and implementation procedures to improve application quality and reuse of code.
  • Review other developers' pull requests for approval or suggest improvements.
  • Perform production support or on-call operations through monitoring, notification, and job/service management.
  • Improve monitoring and alerting for applications to improve support response and operations.
  • Develop proof of concepts (POC) to evaluate new solutions and technology.
  • Investigate incidents and defects in current state application to identify fixes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) with other teams after production incidents to determine improvements.
  • Develop implementation plans, deployment plans, and release/change plans; validate production changes after release.
  • Implement tooling to report and improve security, unit test coverage, and other factors.
  • Ensure security guidelines, compliance, and other business standards are followed to support the application.
  • May assist in training and onboarding of new developers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with building large-scale software applications, lifecycle, and implementation methodologies.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with C#,.NET, HTML/CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL programming.
  • Knowledge of Vue.JS/Bootstrap or comparable frameworks.
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
  • Experience in unit/integration testing.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cloud-based platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Experience working on agile/scrum teams.
