Job Overview

Premier Cooperative is a farmer-owned entity in Illinois, dedicated to delivering agricultural products and energy solutions. With a workforce of around 130 individuals across 26 grain facilities, we play a vital role in the local agricultural landscape.

Position Summary: The role encompasses various responsibilities related to grain management, including receiving, storing, handling, drying, blending, and loading grain onto transportation vehicles. You will be tasked with monitoring the condition of stored grain and managing inventory levels. Additionally, maintaining and cleaning the assigned grain facilities and equipment is essential to ensure a safe working environment for all team members. Operators will receive cross-training to handle a range of duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations established by the cooperative.
  • Efficiently load and unload grain from trucks and rail cars, while ensuring quality and condition are maintained throughout the drying, aeration, and blending processes as directed by the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
  • Participate in and document the upkeep and preventive maintenance of the facilities.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with colleagues, customers, vendors, and contractors, striving to enhance the overall experience at Premier.
  • Conduct Pre-Trip Inspections as required.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and overall appearance of Premier's facilities, including elevators, grounds, and buildings.
  • Assist fellow team members at other locations as necessary.
  • Be prepared to work extended hours when required.
  • Arrive at work punctually and present a neat and professional appearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience in grain handling is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays during peak periods.
  • Ability to climb regularly and a comfort level with heights.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic mechanical skills are beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to climb, stand, walk, and stoop.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Frequent lifting of 50 lbs. or more is necessary.
