As a pivotal member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse delivers expert nursing care, employing the nursing process in alignment with established care standards, protocols, and guidelines.

Nursing Process:
Develops and/or contributes to individualized care plans that reflect assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes.
Ensures plans are reflective of admission or outpatient data, ongoing findings, age-appropriate care, cultural considerations, and appropriate acuity.
Ensures plans are discussed with patients, families/significant others, and completed promptly.Monitors patient progress based on the care plan.
Revises plans continuously based on patient condition and evaluation of progress.
Ensures care meets established standards.
Facilitates effective development and completion of discharge plans, addressing barriers and providing patient/family education.
Ensures that patients clearly understand discharge instructions. In outpatient settings, identifies barriers and needs for patient/family education that will support the outpatient medical management plan.
Ensures patient safety related to medications and procedures by utilizing the five rights; prevents patient falls; prevents pressure ulcers and nosocomial infections.
Ensures optimal pain management and patient comfort; identifies and addresses patient anxieties, fears, or concerns regarding their condition, treatment, or discharge.
Ensures that patients understand the purpose, side effects, and administration instructions for medications during their hospital stay and at discharge.
Patient Care Experience:
Adheres to customer service standards as defined by the Service Area, Medical Center, and specific department.
Responds promptly to call lights, alarms, and patient requests.
Makes appropriate referrals and facilitates patients' ability to utilize resources.
Maintains and protects patient confidentiality.
Ensures a clean, organized, and functional work environment.
Treats all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion.
Delivers an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for addressing those needs.
Provides information to patients in an understandable manner and ensures comprehension.Strives to provide a patient care experience that exceeds members' expectations.

Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.
Fiscal Responsibility:
Organizes work to minimize overtime usage.
Identifies and assists in system improvements that require simplification or correction.
Maximizes the use of payroll and non-payroll resources.
Basic Qualifications:
- Current CA RN license.
- BLS certification.
- 6 (six) months recent (within the last 5 years) full-time equivalent in ED or Critical Care, or successful completion of a KP ED training program or approved equivalent within prior 12 months.
- Current ACLS and PALS certification required.
