Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at American Family Care, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of injuries and disease. This position requires a unique blend of technical skills and interpersonal abilities, making it an ideal fit for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injuries and disease.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by physicians.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Maintain a neat and clean working environment, ensuring all supplies have been ordered and stocked.
  • Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepare images for reading by physicians, as well as contact any additional physicians if a second opinion is needed.
  • Aid physicians with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocol as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Observe safety and security procedures, promote a safe and pleasant work environment, and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Regular attendance is essential to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Sciences, and Limited Medical Radiology Technician (LMRT) license in Texas.
  • Previous medical clerical experience is preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office.
  • Accuracy and detail orientation.
  • Positive customer service skills.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you will be working in an indoor healthcare environment, working with a moderate noise level, working with a potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and diseases, and requiring the use of appropriate PPE (e.g., gloves, masks, etc.).
