Job Summary

Vaco is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of our core Oracle databases in a 24/7 environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance on query optimization and best practices to engineering teams and other departments
  • Improve operational efficiencies of database schema, settings, SQL queries, backup/recovery processes, change data capture, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Monitor core production system services for proper disk and CPU utilization, and maintain up-time
  • Research new products and upgrades that maximize the efficiency and scalability of the database system
  • Document and improve existing departmental procedures, policies, and workflows
  • Closely monitor and manage security-related aspects of the Oracle databases to follow contemporary industry best practices
  • Maintain development, test, and UAT database systems and provide data maintenance services and refresh as necessary
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related technical field
  • 6+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in a high-transaction environment
  • 4+ years of experience with Postgres databases
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of relational database management systems, SQL queries, and table schema design
  • Working knowledge of PL/SQL, Linux, and Java
  • Understanding of networking, firewalls, security procedures, and audit requirements in relation to database systems
