Position Overview
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) plays a crucial role within the Nursing Department, holding the responsibility for the nursing care of surgical patients. This role demands adherence to hospital policies, guidelines, and AORN standards to ensure safety-focused care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage intraoperative care for patients by employing the nursing process.
- Utilize independent judgment and critical thinking skills while collaborating with all team members involved in the surgical phase of care.
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and specific requirements from the surgical team.
- Continuously monitor and assess patients, adjusting care plans as necessary according to AORN standards.
- Recognize and respond promptly to any complications or emergencies that may arise during surgery.
- Report directly to the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services or the Executive Director in their absence.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Completion of coursework from an accredited nursing school (2-4 years).
- Current CPR certification from AHA Healthcare Provider.
- Active RN license.
- Prior experience in an operating room setting is required.
