Pediatric Medical Support Specialist

This role is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and experiences in accordance with Mountain Park Health Center's guiding principles, HIPAA, and relevant federal and state laws. The Pediatric Medical Support Specialist position requires a solid understanding of the functions necessary to excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient privacy in accordance with the law and MPHC policies.
  • Handle sterile and dirty instruments in accordance with CLIA law and regulations.
  • Clean patient care areas in accordance with infection control procedures.
  • Keep exam rooms/procedure rooms stocked/set up according to departmental guidelines.
  • Routinely clean medical equipment to meet quality assurance standards.
  • Identify equipment needing maintenance and report to the Lead.
  • Obtain and document chief complaint, vital signs, and medical/social histories per procedure.
  • Facilitate the completion of questionnaires as needed.
  • Use proper charting procedure, including noting date, time, signature, and job title.
  • Plot growth grids in pediatrics.
  • Manage telephone messages from the department and ensure patient rescheduling with appropriate timeframes.
  • Verify, administer, and document all medications and/or immunizations given, including lot #, location, and initials per procedure.
  • Manage EHR tasks for the department daily, following established EHR workflow.
  • Complete chart prep for the department daily, including reviewing any outstanding care items and updating the EMR as needed.
  • Utilize and/or schedule interpreter services as needed by the patient.
  • Check immunizations and supplies for expired items.
  • Restock sterilization area and other shared areas with supplies.
  • Ensure biohazard and sharps containers are properly disposed of or emptied.
  • Check fax outbox to ensure there are no failed faxes for the department.
  • Complete daily accountability board and attend scheduled department meetings.
  • Be able to adapt to working with different provider teams when needed for coverage.
  • Participate in preparing the department for internal and external site audits.
  • Maintain training, skills, and certifications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Consistent, reliable in-person attendance is required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate.
  • Current CPR Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electronic Health Record experience.
  • At least one year of previous medical back-office experience.
  • RMA or CMA credential.
