About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Merchandise Expert to join our team at Target. As a General Merchandise Expert, you will be responsible for leading the General Merchandise and Food Sales team, ensuring a consistent experience for our guests by setting, in-stocking, accurately pricing, and signing products on the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the General Merchandise and Food Sales team to achieve sales goals and improve inventory management.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient execution of daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of guest service fundamentals, retail business fundamentals, and process efficiency and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the team to create a welcoming experience for guests, engage with them to understand their needs, and provide solutions to improve their experience.
  • Be an expert and dedicated owner of select GM areas to ensure sales floor is zoned, in stock, and accurately signed for guests.
  • Execute revisions, sales plans, and planograms for all GM categories, and assist non-GM areas with transition sets and In-Store Marketing.
  • Process all inbound deliveries using the Receive application to ensure inventory accuracy, and complete all backroom daily and weekly audits.
  • Maintain backroom and fixture room organization, location accuracy, and follow equipment guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and work in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others.

  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Attention to detail and follow a multi-step process.
  • Able to accurately handle cash register operations, climb up and down ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance necessary.
