About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to provide direct clinical and support services to patients and their families. As a Patient Care Technician, you will be a key member of the healthcare team under the direction of the registered nurse (RN). You will participate in the delivery of care using our patient-centered care model and work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to meet patient, family, and staff needs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families.
  • Clinical services may include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
  • Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic math and computer proficiency.
  • One of the following qualifications: one year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting, currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation, completed an approved Patient Care Technician training, completed an approved certified medical assistant training, or one year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only).
