POSITION OVERVIEW
The Ski Lift Operations Supervisor collaborates with the Lift Operations Director and Assistant Director to achieve established objectives in employee engagement, exceptional guest service, safe and efficient lift operations, and financial performance. Key responsibilities encompass hiring and training staff for the lift operations department, overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company and state regulations, and maintaining detailed records.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist guests and colleagues in a positive, helpful, and courteous manner.
  • Help develop departmental goals focused on superior guest service, safe lift operations, and employee safety.
  • Provide immediate oversight and coaching to supervisors, leads, and operators to maximize performance.
  • Recruit and train lift operators for the winter season, including interviewing, reference checks, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Develop training materials and conduct training for supervisors, leads, and operators.
  • Review timekeeping records, correct missed punches, and ensure understanding of timekeeping systems and break/lunch policies.
  • Oversee employee scheduling and schedule change requests.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring departmental budgets.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the department through various channels.
  • Represent the department in service excellence initiatives and safety training.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements based on survey results.
  • Engage in employee motivation and engagement initiatives.
  • Organize activities that foster a positive workplace environment.
  • Manage confidential employee records and ensure timely completion of training documentation.
  • Provide feedback on employee performance and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist with supervision and coverage at lifts and ticket checking as necessary.
  • Build strong working relationships with other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in a ski area is required.
  • Experience in Steamboat Lift Operations is preferred.
  • Experience in labor and expense budget management is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with people.
  • Demonstrated leadership and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize urgent situations and manage stress effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train, coach, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Experience in conflict resolution with both employees and guests.
  • Proficient in computer use, typing, and familiar with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to operate various hand tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurability standards.
  • Willingness to obtain a Colorado class C CDL.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with guests, coworkers, and management.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to negotiate stairs and occasionally lift boxes of supplies.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as shoveling and lifting.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
