Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on production machinery to ensure peak operational efficiency. This role includes conducting routine preventative maintenance tasks as designated, which encompasses the effective upkeep and repair of auxiliary equipment and facility infrastructure that operates continuously. The technician will also provide insights to enhance operational efficiency and assist in implementing those improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of mechanical components on production machinery to uphold optimal operational reliability. This includes the installation or replacement of various mechanical parts such as bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, seals, gaskets, and rollers.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical systems/components on production machinery to maintain optimal operational reliability. This includes the ability to replace electrical motors, switches, sensors, timers, and to repair basic wiring and lighting fixtures.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and inspections on all plant equipment as assigned, and communicate job status to relevant supervisors. Report to the supervisor regarding repairs that necessitate advanced planning.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all repairs performed on plant and facility equipment using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Adhere strictly to all plant work regulations and safety protocols.
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of start-up, shutdown, and lockout/tag-out procedures for all equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Experience or training in electrical and mechanical systems within an industrial setting.

• Proficient in both electrical and mechanical aspects of plant maintenance.

• Required knowledge of computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regularly required to stand and walk.

• Frequently required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting/moving of up to 100 pounds.

• Manual dexterity is essential.

• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights below 100 feet.

• Adequate vision, speech, and hearing capabilities.

• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Manufacturing environment.

• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, and vibrations.

• Noise levels typically low, but can be very loud at times.
